This privacy policy applies to the BananaCal app (hereby referred to as "Application") for macOS that was created by Howon Kim (hereby referred to as "Service Provider") as a paid service. This service is intended for use "AS IS".
App Analytics
BananaCal for macOS 2.1.0 and later shares limited usage statistics with TelemetryDeck for product analytics. This feature is on by default. You can turn it off at any time in Settings → Feedback → Share Usage Statistics. Earlier macOS versions do not include this analytics feature.
When sharing is on, BananaCal sends app version, build number, platform, UTC date, and events for opening Settings, changing selected settings, and a daily settings snapshot, which may be retried if delivery is uncertain. The snapshot includes the selected appearance, theme style, menu bar width, first screen, event notification and daily summary options, and the operating system's notification permission status. Settings changes include the setting name and its previous and new values. Only predefined option values are sent.
The app creates a random installation identifier on your device and sends a different SHA-256 hash of it each UTC day, along with a daily session hash. The original identifier stays on your device. These analytics are not linked to your identity and are not used for tracking or advertising. TelemetryDeck receives the transmitted events and may see your IP address as part of the network request, so this data is not described as completely anonymous. See TelemetryDeck's privacy policy for its data handling practices.
Turning sharing off stops new analytics requests and removes the local analytics identifier and unsent events. It does not erase statistics already received by TelemetryDeck. BananaCal does not send your name, email, Apple account, calendar or reminder contents, event titles, location, or notification text as analytics.
Calendar Access
The Application requests access to your Apple Calendar data (via the macOS EventKit framework) solely to display and manage your events within the Application. This data:
- Never leaves your device through the Application
- Is not shared with the Service Provider or any third party
- Is accessed only while the Application is running
- Remains fully under Apple's standard Calendar privacy controls
You can revoke Calendar access at any time through System Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars.
Location Access
The Application uses Apple's MapKit framework to display event locations on a map. Location search queries are processed by Apple's servers in accordance with Apple's Privacy Policy. The Service Provider does not receive or store any location data.
Local Storage
The Application stores preferences (such as selected calendars, appearance settings, and world clock time zones) locally on your device using macOS UserDefaults. In macOS 2.1.0 and later, the limited settings choices listed under App Analytics are also transmitted when Share Usage Statistics is on. Calendar and reminder contents are not included.
Third-Party Services
The Application uses Apple frameworks (EventKit, MapKit, SwiftUI) that are subject to Apple's own privacy policies. In macOS 2.1.0 and later, usage statistics are sent to TelemetryDeck as described above. No advertising network is integrated into the Application.
Children's Privacy
The Application is not directed to children under the age of 13. The Service Provider does not knowingly collect children's personal information. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact the Service Provider at the address below.
Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The Service Provider will notify you of any changes by updating this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Continued use of the Application after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of those changes.
